Gerben Budding started as the new organist in Sint Jan Gouda

Gerben Budding is from July 1, 2018 the main organist of the St. Janskerk in Gouda. In this new function he’s also the organist of the city Gouda in the Netherlands. Gerben about this new job: “It is an honorable appointment. Being an organist of this historical organ in the longest church in the Netherlands is very special. I also look forward to the services in the municipality and the concerts in Gouda. ”

Honorable appointment
Gerben, together with 5 of the 22 candidates, was allowed to play for the advisory committee in Gouda. The advisory committee, consisting of Bas de Vroome, Jan Hage and Gerrit Christiaan de Gier, was then unanimously in the final verdict to nominate Gerben Budding. Gerben looks forward to the further acquaintance with the municipality, all those involved and the 3-key Moreau organ from 1736 in the St. Janskerk in Gouda. “I gave some concerts already in Gouda and I think it’s a beautiful organ in a special space. “On 25 August Gerben Budding hopes to give his first organ concert on ‘his’ new organ.

With this appointment comes an end to his function as head organist of the Grote Kerk in Gorinchem and city organist in Gorinchem.
